I wasn't aware of this thread until a few minutes ago. which is a volume and crossfade between two dynamic layers……… very poor results compared to say the timed swells of Mojo Horns. There are also no dynamic patches in BBB - you are expected to ride everything on the mod wheel…. which takes up a massive amount of disk space … and provides very little definable difference in tone - Wish they'd dumped that and provided 2nd 3rd and 4th players with individual tones instead of the same players on different mics ! What BBB did pointlessly provide is up to six completely different mics on the big performance patches of the solo instruments. What BBB lacks is individual Trumpet 2, 3 and 4 and trombone 2, 3 and 4 - which when you're talking about a BIg Band is what you need ! ! ! - there are no ensemble patches either so unison and a2 is not going to happen. Bari sax is an abortion, Trombone1 is OK. BBB was bloody expensive but does some things very well, legato Tenor and alto saxes are standout, Trumpet 1 in high range inc legato transitions and glisses is good but not so good in the middle range and below. I use a combination of BBB with Chris Hein Horns vols 1 2 and 3 for mockups. BBB has some very strong points but equally some very duff points too.

Like many libraries out there, no one library provides a total answer and big band emulation is no different.
